Edge 520 Plus comes pre-loaded with Garmin Cycling Map and includes turn-by-turn navigation directions and navigation alerts that warn you before turns tight Get information about altitude data and more while you're on the move. And, of course, the device is smart enough to bring you back to your chosen route, or back to the beginning, if you deviate from it or decide to return home early.
Messages between riders
No need to use the phone or worry about other riders in the group falling behind or getting ahead. The rider-to-rider messaging feature allows you to send pre-written notes from your Edge 520 Plus cycling computer to their 1 computer. Let your friends know you'll catch up with them in a few minutes, or let them know if you don't want them to wait for you. If you've broken down or need help, you can send a message to riders in your group associated with GroupTrack so they can find you.
Advanced performance monitoring
Edge 520 Plus is compatible with sensors with ANT+® technology, including speed, cadence and heart rate sensors. With the addition of a heart rate strap (sold separately), you gain access to a variety of physiological data. View your VO2 max. specific to cycling with a recovery consultant who analyzes your data and tells you how long to wait before attempting another tough ride. Edge 520 Plus is compatible with our line of devices Varia™ with cycling information, including radar with rearview mirrorand with intelligent bike lights. By pairing these devices with the Edge, you can receive alerts right on the Edge display for approaching vehicles and to let drivers see you. Use LiveTrack to let friends and family track your location in real-time, or use GroupTrack2 to monitor your shift mates and allow them to track you if you get separated. The Edge 520 Plus has a built-in incident detection system that automatically sends your location to an emergency contact when you're in trouble.
Real-time Strava segments help you get better performance
Garmin and Strava give you even more ways to test your limits. You'll still get segment start and finish alerts, and you'll be able to compete virtually against your personal best and your Strava friends, thanks to a redesigned second-by-second comparison that shows you your results. You'll also be able to compare yourself your current effort with your personal best, your latest workout or your friends' best results. Finally, with the pre-loaded Strava Routes Connect IQ app, starred routes can now be sent wirelessly to your Edge cycling computer so that you can surf and race your favorite Strava segments at the same time.
